Chair Chat
CHAIRMAN’S CHAT -
Having been elected as Chairman for another year ( I promise you it will be my last ) I thought I had better get around to writing another of my (rather spasmodic) Chairman’s chats.
We have lost three members off the old committee – Cyril and Ann Freeman plus our
Treasurer Sue Lang. Many thanks must go to Sue who has worked extremely hard over
the last few years but now needs more time for her studies and her family (and me
shouts Mark!}. On the plus side we have gained two new members – Kim and Allan McKelvie-
All the main positions have a deputy – to cover for those lucky people who disappear for the Winter (mentioning no names). Roger is still our “scribe” for the club magazine but if he still keeps on casting aspersions at myself and Alan he will be sacked!
Our Christmas dinner this year was a huge success without the trials and tribulations of the previous year. There was a good choice of food for the meal – all extremely well cooked although I did hear someone say they would have preferred a Chinese like last year!
Our new Rally programme will be with you shortly and once again rally officer Anne has done a magnificent job. As this is our Golden Jubilee year we have a big rally at Braithwaite to celebrate this. There will be lots of entertainment, good food and a few surprises! Don’t forget to book early for this especially you Northern Counties members – it’s your celebration so make the most of it as I am sure you will really enjoy it – no expense has been spared!
Our next rally is the New Year celebration at Redcar which is fully booked so it should have a great atmosphere with lots of games and entertainment provided. If you have booked and are unable to attend for any reason please let Anne know as we have a reserve list of people eager to attend!
That’s all for now so I would like to wish you all a very happy Christmas and all the best and safe motoring in the New Year.
Chairman John.
P.S. To all you Sunderland supporters. I do feel sorry for Steve Bruce, but he is
unlikely to be out of work for long at this time of year. Department Stores everywhere
are looking for a fat, red-
